Instructions:
The Exceptional Learner course emphasizes identifying, planning for, and teaching children with various special educational needs in an inclusive setting. Methods and techniques are explored, including those for gifted students.

Essay writing requirements:

  1. Introduce the topic researched. Define and briefly describe the disability (i.e., common causes, warning signs, familiar characteristics/identifiers, symptoms, treatment, current research).
  2. Explain the implications for development.
  3. Identify and discuss the most relevant special education law that pertains to the disability. (6b)
  4. Identify and describe educational challenges (at least 2) associated with the disability.
  5. Identify at least two (2) assistive technology tools to address the educational challenges identified (see #5) and explain how the assistive technology mediates the challenges in the learning environment. (4b)
  6. Reflect on the overall education of child with special needs, and teaching (e.g., methods and techniques including the use of technology) children with special needs. (6c)
