Paper 1 – One Page
Write a paper based on the following —
The most important quantitative data concerning the New Earth Mining, Inc.is the market costs for iron ore and the time frame to deplete the iron ore cache. New Earth Mining was well aware of the growing demand for iron ore and the lack of labor and skills to mine the commodity. The brighter side of the analysis was the intense demand of the commodity which pushed the market price of the commodity above $80 per metric tone. An independent engineering and construction firm projected the manganese field contained 30 million tons of ore with a 60% iron content on average. It would take the mining company 15 years to deplete the field at an extraction rate of 2 million tons a year (Fruhan and Wang, 2013). The forecast for mining the Kalahari manganese field seemed to be very profitable for a substantial amount of time.
The most important qualitative data the New Earth Mining company was facing is the risk factors that were involved with conducting business in South Africa. Politically, South Africa was a hotbed for civil unrest and corruption. The South African government could easily nationalize the field and therefore a great portion of the profits would belong to the South African government. Making the mining operation unprofitable and unsustainable for New Earth Mining, Inc. Overall speculation of the project is quantitative in nature because of the increasing value of iron ore, the demand, and the many countries who are trying to capitalize on the commodity.

Paper 2 – One Page would you please integrate Biomedical ethics as it relates to COVID-19.
Certainly, there are a number of ethical ideas that we have studied this term that have been significant. The ethical treatment of animals, for example, says a great deal about a society and its mores. Likewise, business ethics tells us much about the values that business leaders hold dear. However, I would have to say that the most significant area that we studied was biomedical ethics. This is, in fact, the “hot” topic among health professionals because it is an emerging field. Each day, there are new discoveries in the area of biomedical research. I think that bioethics is a particularly relevant field because it involves the ethical treatment of nascent human life. Where some people see biomedical waste, others see human beings with limitless potential. In a moral construct, whatever we do to the least among us reveals the best—or the worst—in us.
After studying biomedical ethics, I am more convinced than ever of the necessity to establish strict guidelines for biomedical research such as embryonic stem cell research. Otherwise, the U.S. could find itself stuck in an ethical quagmire, given the tremendous controversy surrounding the treatment of human embryos. Through strict regulation, such ethical problems could be averted.
I would say that I believe wholeheartedly that the philosophical study of ethics is valuable. Without ethics, we are without purpose and without a guiding philosophy for living. Through the study of ethics, we can learn how to apply certain fundamental principles to the controversies of everyday life. I believe that, in the end, I am a more insightful, enlightened individual as a result of my study of ethics.
