Conduct an interview with a person of interest about their childhood, their upbringing, their country, or anything else they think will help in learning more about why the interviewee engaged in crime (any type of crime, preferably transnational/international although I understand that in most cases this is not an option). Since the circumstances have changed you may want to consider doing a Zoom interview, phone interview or just talk to someone at home. Also, I will allow you to look for autobiographies and life narratives if you can’t find anyone to interview. Life narratives of offenders should be available online. Look at articles, books, or journalistic accounts. There will be no audio, video or names used in the actual interviews. I encourage you to use a minimum of four interview quotes in your report. The student should analyze the interview according to the theories covered in class. Make references to theories. Submit on blackboard. Use maximum of three theories to analyze the interview (one or two is okay as well). The interview should last a maximum of 30 minutes (4-5 discussion questions).
You will need to submit a research paper of approximately 1,200 (+/- 10%) words in length. Please include clear aims and objectives and describe the crime the person committed. Make sure you link the findings to the select theories.
