Topic: Male Struggle for Identity in Selected Plays of Sam Shepard

Description
We have finished chapter one which is the introduction, chapter two which is about Buried Child and chapter three which is about States of Shock. Now, I need this chapter (chapter four) to deal with Eyes for Consuela (2002) which is an expressionist play set in Mexico. It is about a lost soul, Henry, from the middle-class, who left America after his wife deserted him. Henry’s attempt to find himself in Mexico becomes the trigger for problems and nightmares which compel him to return home and live with his wife. While addressing a male’s grappling with identity, this play signifies Shepard’s return to writing family plays which was the source of his fame during the 1970s although it ends with a family reunion which is rarely achieved in his earlier plays.
