For this assignment, you need to locate at least five secondary sources and one primary source. When searching for secondary sources, you should focus your attention on the databases available to you via the Library (e.g., JSTOR, Project Muse, ProQuest). You may want to start with the Historical Research Guide.
You are encouraged to locate additional primary sources, as this will help you when you transition to the capstone.
Searching for credible primary sources may prove challenging. Given this potential difficulty, it may be helpful to select several options for your primary source.
Include the following in your assignment:
- Provide a full Turabian-formatted citation for each source. You need to include at least five secondary sources and one primary source. Each source should be a credible and academically rigorous resource that addresses the research question.
- State where you found each source (i.e., the research archive or facility where it was found). Discuss additional research archives and facilities, both digital and physical, that you could use to gather credible resources for your capstone project.
- Discuss how searching for resources has affected your overall project. Did the accessibility of the resources result in you modifying your research question and/or your research methodology? Why or why not? Support your explanation with specific examples.
- Explain how you ensured that you exercised intellectual honesty? In other words, do your sources reflect only your assumptions or beliefs, or do they also reflect an honest and representative sample of academically rigorous and intellectually honest historical sources? How will you ensure that you exercise the same intellectual honesty while completing your capstone project?
