Prompt: Keeping with the same topic you have been writing all semester, you will write an argument essay that offers evidence to one stakeholder that he/she is affected by the issue.
A A successful essay will:
address a stakeholder from the middle to outer ring of the stakeholder map (usually), one who NEEDS the information you have;
be organized around a thesis or line of inquiry;
present an informative, detailed and well-researched support that the issue impacts the stakeholder;
include a strategic selection of primary and/or secondary research from credible sources (6-7 sources, two of which must be scholarly);
include a section where you discuss alternate stances (reasons why the stakeholder audience doesn’t think he or she is affected) with evidence to the contrary;
avoid emotionally-charged rhetoric in favor of objective writing (logos);
cite all sources in MLA 8 style;
utilize feedback to revise and polish the final draft;
avoid grammatical mistakes and unclear prose;
be at least 1700 words in length
Draft should be at least 1000 words and incorporate 2-3 credible sources. Include a Works Cited page.
Final should be 1500 words to 1700 words and should incorporate (6-7 sources, 2 of which must be scholarly). Include a Works Cited page.
The draft will be graded on length, evidence, and structure. The final version will be graded using the FYC Rubric we went over in class.
